The Elida Bulldogs will face off against the Miller City Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elida will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Elida's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Kenton with a sharp 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lilly Sifrit was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Maddie Kill was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Liv Walters was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Elida kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Miller City faced off against North Baltimore on Thursday. The Wildcats came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since March 29th.
Morgan Verhoff made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey David, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Miller City now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Elida, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Miller City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Elida has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .493. It's a different story for Miller City, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Elida's hitters?
Everything went Elida's way against Miller City when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Elida made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
