St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) will meet No. 5
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship Friday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Defending national champion St. John Bosco won the game in 2016, 2019 and 2022. The Monarchs took the Southern Section crown in 2017, 2018 and in 2021 (against Servite). On four of those occasions, the winner went on to finish No. 1 nationally.

Elijah Brown at quarterback, the Monarchs rolled through their first two playoff games, including a 42-14 victory over Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) last week in the semifinals.
Brown has thrown for 2,531 yards this season and 8,870 for his career with 109 touchdown passes. He is 3-2 against Bosco while throwing for nearly 1,000 yards in those meetings.
