Cherokee Trail struggled with assists on Wednesday (Grandview had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cherokee Trail took a hard 52-37 fall against Grandview. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cherokee Trail has scored all season.
Cherokee Trail's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Braylen Thomas, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, and Amari Chandler who scored six points along with five steals and two blocks. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Nathan Baack was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Smoky Hill entered their tilt with Eaglecrest with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Smoky Hill enjoyed a cozy 70-53 win over Eaglecrest on Wednesday.
Cherokee Trail has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Smoky Hill, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Cherokee Trail came up short against Smoky Hill in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 71-66.
