Vandalia has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Greenville Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Vandalia has not done well against the Panthers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Vandalia breezed by the Panthers at home to the tune of 56-22. The victory was just what Vandalia needed coming off of a 55-25 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Greenville can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They really took it to Litchfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-12 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-4.
Greenville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Veith led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. Katie Campbell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Vandalia's victory bumped their record up to 7-19. As for Greenville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
Vandalia ended up a good deal behind the Comets in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 61-46. Thankfully for Vandalia, Charlee Stearns (who scored 14 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
