After flying high against the Chief Ivan Blunka Eagles last Saturday, the Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles came back down to earth. Sand Point took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Sand Point was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Birchwood Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Guderian out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Guderian is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Severns, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Sand Point dropped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Birchwood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sand Point won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Archangels at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alaska (Lumen Christi is ranked 82nd, while the Eagles/Lady Eagles are ranked 80th). As for Birchwood Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
