After ten games on the road, Doral Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Miami Stingarees at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Doral Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Miami in Florida (Doral Academy is ranked 20th, while Miami is ranked 65th).
After soaring to a 38-point victory in their last game, Doral Academy came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of American Heritage by a score of 50-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Doral Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Doral Academy saw an underclassman step up: Ashley Martinez scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Martinez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Stephanie Vega was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Miami gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by St. Brendan at home to the tune of 72-32. The win was familiar territory for Miami who now have four in a row.
Doral Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Miami, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-9.
Doral Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Miami in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win.
