Basketball Recap: Fernandina Beach Skates Past West Nassau with Ease

Fernandina Beach had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point drubbing they dealt West Nassau on Tuesday. The Fernandina Beach Pirates took their matchup with ease, bagging a 60-33 victory over the West Nassau Warriors. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Fernandina Beach's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesse Basse, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Basse a new career-high in assists. Dominik Dunlap was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 15 points.

Basse wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Fernandina Beach was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Nassau only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, West Nassau still got an impressive performance from Jakari Major, who posted eight points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Jefferson, who put up five points.

Fernandina Beach has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for West Nassau, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Fernandina Beach will square off against Beachside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fernandina Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Beachside likes a good challenge. As for West Nassau, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-49 win against Stanton on the 15th.
