It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Payson Lions can now relate to. They were outmatched by Ridgeline on the road and fell 45-6. Payson's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Payson lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Cooper Swasey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Swasey was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Ridgeline can attribute much of their success to Nate Dahle, who threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Krew Jones also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Payson's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Ridgeline, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-2 record.
Payson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ridgeline will face off against Crimson Cliffs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crimson Cliffs is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
