It was a good run, but the Santaluces Chiefs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Dwyer, falling 82-40. Santaluces was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-19.
Despite the loss, Santaluces had strong showings from Decarious Jenkins, who scored 13 points, and Jo jo Alisma, who scored seven points.
Santaluces struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dwyer pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Bobby Gilbert III was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tamari Reed was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Santaluces' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9. As for Dwyer, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Dwyer won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Royal Palm Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Royal Palm Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Dwyer is ranked 26th).
