Warren County is 1-6 against Aquinas since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warren County Screaming Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aquinas Fightin' Irish at 7:30 p.m. Warren County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Aquinas is ranked 190th).
Warren County fell victim to Lincoln County's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 27-0 loss at the hands of the Red Devils. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, Warren County couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Aquinas was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They snuck past Greene County with a 14-10 win.
Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Jack Rhodes, who picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Jim Franklin, who rushed for 96 yards.
Another reason for the win was Aquinas' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaden Wuerth and Copelan Thurmond who racked up four sacks between them.
Warren County's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Aquinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Warren County took a serious blow against Aquinas in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 35-8. Will Warren County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
