Basketball Game Preview: Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors vs. Chase Trojans

The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors will square off against the Chase Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chase took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Lure Classical Academy, who comes in off a win.

Chase better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Lake Lure Classical Academy's game last Friday is any indication, that's when Lake Lure Classical Academy really gets things going. The Raptors put the hurt on Cherryville with a sharp 52-30 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.

Landry Mize produced another solid effort going 8-for-19 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. Mize is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gynnifer Dorn, who posted two points in addition to 14 boards and four steals.

Lake Lure Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Chase was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greer Middle College.

Lake Lure Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Chase, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Lake Lure Classical Academy might still be hurting after the 42-17 defeat they got from Chase when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Raptors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
