The Lake Buena Vista Vipers lost against the Gateway Panthers back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lake Buena Vista took a 62-47 bruising from Gateway.
Lake Buena Vista lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryan Mwangovya, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Mwangovya has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Travis Ligene, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
Lake Buena Vista bumped their record down to 7-13 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Gateway, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Buena Vista will take on Timber Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Timber Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday. Gateway won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. St. Cloud is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
