Basketball Recap: Providence Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Providence Christian Academy lost against Athens Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Providence Christian Academy Storm took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athens Academy Spartans. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Providence Christian Academy lost, don't look at Ella Truong. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 21 en route to 26 points and five steals. That's the most points Truong has posted since back in November of 2024. Zoie Cameron was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Providence Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Providence Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Athens Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Providence Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Blessed Trinity at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Blessed Trinity has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Athens Academy, they will square off against Greater Atlanta Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
