Basketball Recap: Lake Minneola Extends Winning Streak to Two

If East Ridge wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lake Minneola, they should've done a better job of containing Ethan Isom. The Lake Minneola Hawks blew past the East Ridge Knights 92-58 on Friday thanks in part to Isom, who posted 26 points. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high.

East Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Estevaz, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points. Estevaz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jordan Corman was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake Minneola and bumps their season record up to 13-9. As for East Ridge, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Lake Minneola and East Ridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Lake Minneola (ranked 141st) will meet Windermere (ranked eighth) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, East Ridge will face off against Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 377 places (645 vs. 268).
