Waterford is 8-2 against Badger since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Badgers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Waterford is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Waukesha West 12-1 on Saturday. Waterford not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 16, 2024 (when they won 23-11).
Jaydin Kiser made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Kiser was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Waterford got a massive performance out of Cailyn Kysely, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Kysely a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Evjen, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Waterford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Badger came out on top against East Troy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Badgers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Trojans.
Lylla Metcalf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Callie Petersen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Miah Butinas, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Waterford and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Badger, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Waterford took their victory against Badger when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
