On Friday, the Dixie Flyers faced the Pine View Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dixie came out on top against Pine View by a score of 61-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Dixie also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Kyle Lemke was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 29 points, 13 rebounds, and nine blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Breckon Robinson, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Pine View's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffen Shepherd, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Nash Schroeder was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Dixie's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Pine View, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
Dixie will take on Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Snow Canyon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Pine View, they will head out on the road to challenge Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cedar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
