Ferndale is 6-0 against Stanwood since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Ferndale Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stanwood Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Ferndale will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Ferndale humbled Mount Vernon with a 49-14 victory. Given Ferndale's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Mount Vernon is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Stanwood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They and Marysville Getchell were almost perfectly matched up, but Stanwood suffered an agonizing 21-20 defeat.
Despite their loss, Stanwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Max Mayo, who rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Silas Turpin, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Ferndale's victory bumped their season record to 5-2 while Stanwood's loss dropped theirs to 3-4.
Everything went Ferndale's way against Stanwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Ferndale made off with a 28-7 win. Will Ferndale repeat their success, or does Stanwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
