The Ganado Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 59-20 defeat at the hands of Shiner. While losing is never fun, Ganado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1175th, while Shiner is ranked 241st).
Ganado's loss came despite strong showings from Zoey Ybarra and Paisley Hajovsky. Ybarra scored six points along with six steals, while Hajovsky scored no points. Ybarra has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Ganado has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. As for Shiner, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.
Ganado will head out on the road to face off against Flatonia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shiner, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Weimar at 6:15 p.m.
