Even though the Commerce Red Raiders scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Pittsfield Generals still came out on top. Pittsfield walked away with a 69-59 victory over Commerce. Given Pittsfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Commerce is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pittsfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makai Shepardson, who scored 26 points. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Sean Brown, who scored 16 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pittsfield and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Commerce, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Pittsfield will be playing at home against Mount Anthony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Commerce, they will head out on the road to face off against Agawam at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Agawam's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
