The Northern Nash Knights posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 75-54 margin over Southern Nash. Given Northern Nash's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Southern Nash is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern Nash had a senior duo take command as Izeal Mallory II scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Randall King scored 18 points along with two steals. King is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Kingston Little was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Southern Nash lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tylik Mitchell, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of George Richardson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Northern Nash now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Southern Nash, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Nash won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Nash Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Nash Central is on a four-game streak of home losses, Northern Nash a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Southern Nash, they will head out on the road to challenge Franklinton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklinton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.1 points per game.
