The Stevenson Patriots are on the road again on Friday and play against the Lyons Lions at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Stevenson was able to grind out a solid win over Libertyville, taking the game 35-28.
Stevenson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Crawley out in front who threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Armand Burris also helped out with an impressive 129 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Lyons put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Proviso East 63-7 on the road. Given Lyons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Proviso East is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stevenson's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points per game. As for Lyons, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Stevenson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lyons in their previous matchup back in October of 2014, but they still walked away with a 21-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stevenson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
