The Northwestern Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 87-50 loss at the hands of Laurel. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Northwestern has suffered yet this season.
Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amadou Kaloga led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Kaloga posted eight or more assists. Jermaine Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Northwestern bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Laurel, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Northwestern will head out on the road to square off against Eleanor Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Eleanor Roosevelt is ranked 211th, while Northwestern is ranked 216th). Laurel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Suitland at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Suitland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 375 points over their last six contests.
