The Natomas Nighthawks will head out on the road to face off against the Cordova Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, everything went Natomas' way against Valley as Natomas made off with a 30-6 win. The result was nothing new for Natomas, who have now won three games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Michael Hendricks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Melvin was another key contributor, throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Cordova fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Florin 49-7 on the road.
Cordova got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Wallace out in front who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Wallace was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Michael Brown was in the mix as well, providing Cordova with two touchdowns.
Natomas' victory on Friday also bumped their record up to 3-5. Cordova is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Natomas against Cordova in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Natomas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
