The Tri-State Christian Huskies waltzed into their match on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They snuck past Morning Star Academy with a 48-44 victory. This was payback for Tri-State Christian, who suffered a 55-43 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Tri-State Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Vannorsdel, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vannorsdel has scored all season. Will Cunningham was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Tri-State Christian's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Morning Star Academy, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Tri-State Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Morning Star Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Unity Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Unity Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
