Taylor County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-6. They came up short against the Madison County Cowboys, falling 20-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on March 10th.
Ryver Arnold stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Hannah McAfee, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
As for Madison County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Madison County's side, Alden Bass made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Bass has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kylee Hutto was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. AnnaKayte Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Taylor County will take on Suwannee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison County, they will face off against Port St. Joe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cowboys 3.7, the Tiger Sharks 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
