The Shadow Ridge Stallions will challenge the O'Connor Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Shadow Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Apollo with a sharp 34-1 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Stallions with their most commanding win of the season.
Alexis Hughes looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Shadow Ridge got a massive performance out of Destiny Johnston, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs Johnston has posted since back in March of 2024. Liliana Moreno was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
Shadow Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, O'Connor was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Liberty 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Lions since April 9, 2021.
Rachel Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Davis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, O'Connor let Sydnee Williams and Keygan Robinson run wild. Williams scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Robinson scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Kuhl, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Shadow Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shadow Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like O'Connor struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shadow Ridge might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from O'Connor when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
