Gulf Pointe Latin fell just short of Santa Rosa Christian by a score of 44-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gulf Pointe Latin in their matchups with Santa Rosa Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Gulf Pointe Latin saw an underclassman step up: Dean Fillmore dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. John DeFore was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Gulf Pointe Latin has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-15.
Gulf Pointe Latin is on the road again on Friday and plays Calvary Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Gulf Pointe Latin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. Santa Rosa Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
