Even though the Morning Star Academy Mustangs have not done well against the Galesburg Christian Lions recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Morning Star Academy came out on top against Galesburg Christian by a score of 41-31. The win was familiar territory for Morning Star Academy who now have three in a row.
Morning Star Academy found their leader in underclassman Violet Jewell, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jewell has scored at least a third of Morning Star Academy's points. Allison Ammann was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Morning Star Academy pushed their record up to 8-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Galesburg Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morning Star Academy will take on Durant/Bennett at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Galesburg Christian, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. Tri-State Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
