St. Joseph Central Catholic is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since May 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Danbury by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Crimson Streaks in their meetings with the Lakers: they've now lost three in a row.
Andrew Spieldenner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Gill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lakota was able to grind out a solid win over Old Fort on Monday, taking the game 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Hunter Sweeney and Grant Scherger were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sweeney didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Scherger tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Sweeney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Sweeney got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double, while Scherger went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Bomer, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hines, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lakota now has a winning record of 12-11. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.
