Football Recap: Fivay Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against River Ridge, Fivay was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Freedom Patriots 33-18. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Je'Barri Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 324 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.

Fivay's run defense was locked in: Freedom could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least three total tackles, Clarence Walker stood above the rest. He made three total tackles and defended one pass. Fivay didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.9.

Fivay's defense didn't let Levi Pavlikovic., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jordan Bonacasa, Sal Bonacasa, and Demarquez Holloman, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Freedom's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pavlikovic, who threw for 291 yards and a pair of TDs. 140 of those passing yards were hauled in by Peter Fankama.

Fivay's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

Coming up, Fivay will take on Cypress Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Freedom, they will challenge Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons' defense has only allowed 3.2 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
