When it comes to explaining why St. Anthony's lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Gary Merrill. Despite the final result, he rushed for 139 yards. Merrill is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
The victory (which was Cardinal Hayes' third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for St. Anthony's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Cardinal Hayes will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Stepinac at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Archbishop Stepinac will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. St. Anthony's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
