Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Odyssey Charter School

Calvary Chapel Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Odyssey Charter School on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Odyssey Charter School Titans 80-76. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Calvary Chapel Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Welsh, who posted 30 points along with five assists and three steals. With that strong performance, Welsh is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Noah Bolen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Welsh wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Calvary Chapel Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Odyssey Charter School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jevenson Antoine, who put up 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Jones, who posted 16 points.

Calvary Chapel Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Odyssey Charter School, their record is now 2-6.

Calvary Chapel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-49 loss against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 16th. As for Odyssey Charter School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-27 defeat against Celebration on the 16th.
