Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost an 85-84 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mariner Tritons. On the bright side, the 84- point performance marked the Eagles' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Mariner, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway and Estero will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 61.9 points per game this season. As for Mariner, they will be home for the holidays to greet Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tritons will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 70.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
