On Saturday, the Fort Collins Lambkins faced the Rock Canyon Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fort Collins came out on top against Rock Canyon by a score of 58-46. The win was familiar territory for Fort Collins who now have six in a row.
Avery Alcaraz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Wagstaff, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Rock Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Goode, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Brooke Harding was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.
Fort Collins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Rock Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-3.
Fort Collins will look to defend their home court on Monday against Boulder at 6:30 p.m. Boulder will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Fort Collins is ranked 16th). As for Rock Canyon, they will head out on the road to take on Legend at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Legend focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Saturday.
