The Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Episcopal School of Jacksonville's game was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Victory Christian Academy 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Episcopal School of Jacksonville.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville found their leader in underclassman Alex Hicks, who rushed for 103 yards on only 12 carries. Carson Magyar made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Riverside came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Ribault by a score of 32-23. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Ribault is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverside can attribute much of their success to Kennvontae Sharrow, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Riverside's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Demontra Burnett and his two sacks.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Riverside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
