Darien Whitaker Has Career-Day on Friday
Starting off the list is Boys Town's Darien Whitaker, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Whitaker made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss), good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.1 rushing yards per game.
This season, Whitaker has averaged 6.8 total tackles per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he had six rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to 16.

Cael Smith Delivers Best Effort of Season
Ashland-Greenwood was led to victory by Cael Smith, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Smith rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The win (which was Ashland-Greenwood's sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Smith and Ashland-Greenwood will host Gross Catholic at 7:00 a.m. on Friday.

Big Game from Tonjes As Ashland-Greenwood Won 45-14
Derek Tonjes was instrumental in extending Ashland-Greenwood's winning streak to six on Friday. Tonjes was dynamite, throwing for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes.
This year, Tonjes has thrown 21 touchdowns while averaging 206.1 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 4.75 passing yards per game.

Roncalli Catholic Gets a Boost from Post in 28-14 Defeat
Roncalli Catholic had to settle for second on Friday, but Jackson Post sure wasn't going down easily. Post turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 71 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Roncalli Catholic and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Post and Roncalli Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sidney at 7:00 p.m. on November 1st.

Akhil Mehta Makes Top Five
Rounding off our Top Five is Akhil Mehta of Brownell Talbot. Mehta made two total tackles.
Brownell Talbot is on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8. Mehta and Brownell Talbot will square off against Boys Town at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
