Softball Recap: Yuma Has No Trouble Against Cortez

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cibola, Yuma was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Cortez Colts 17-1. Considering the Criminals have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elia Palencia was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Saige Sievert, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two RBI.

Yuma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cortez only posted an OBP of .444.

Yuma is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Cortez, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Yuma has already played their next game, an 18-2 loss against Kofa on the 16th. As for Cortez, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 defeat against Cactus on the 16th.
