The Hollins Royals suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Osceola by a score of 38-36. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hollins in their matchups with Osceola: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Hollins saw an underclassman step up: Summer Morgan scored 19 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danaja Moss, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Hollins' loss was their 15th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.9 points per game. As for Osceola, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hollins won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Palm Harbor University at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Palm Harbor University presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hollins in Florida (Palm Harbor University is ranked 217th, while Hollins is ranked 604th). As for Osceola, they will head out on the road to challenge Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
