The Willmar Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Becker at home by a decisive 76-59 margin. Willmar was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Becker apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Becker found their leader in underclassman Nathan Weiss, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 4 assists. Another player making a difference was Josh Groskreutz, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Willmar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Becker, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willmar will take on Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Becker, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Cloud Cathedral at 7:00 p.m.
