The Leake Central Gators pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 57-42 to North Forrest. Leake Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Todd Edmond, who threw for 320 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Demar Gardner, who picked up 205 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Leake Central's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. As for North Forrest, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leake Central will square off against Senatobia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Senatobia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leake Central in Mississippi (Senatobia is ranked 38th, while Leake Central is ranked 188th). As for North Forrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Raleigh is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
