Mason Sterling Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Humboldt got the W thanks in part to Mason Sterling playing the best football he has all season. Sterling rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.
The victory for Humboldt keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Sterling and Humboldt will be playing at home against Central Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Humboldt Wins Seventh-Straight Thanks to Blake Ellis
Humboldt picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Blake Ellis. Ellis wasn't messing around, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes. The match was his third straight with two or more rushing touchdowns.
On the season, Ellis has thrown 11 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 134.9 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he had nine rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to 21.

Cole G. Mathes produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Humboldt to the win on Friday. G. Mathes rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (3.0 for loss).
For the season, G. Mathes has caught 4 touchdowns while averaging 16.3 receiving yards per game.
