Even though the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies have not done well against the McClain Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Jackson enjoyed a cozy 59-40 victory over McClain. That's another feather in the cap for Jackson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jackson was led to victory by Mattie Walburn and T.j. Carpenter. Walburn scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while Carpenter scored 24 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Carpenter has scored at least 25% of Jackson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Davis, who scored 9 points.
Jackson's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for McClain, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Jackson will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Portsmouth West at 2:00 p.m. on December 2nd. As for McClain, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Miami Trace at 1:15 p.m. on December 2nd.
