The Alpena Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-58 to Gaylord. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alpena in their matchups with Gaylord: they've now lost three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gaylord to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Gelow, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Gelow has scored at least 25% of Gaylord's points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Locker, who scored 19 points along with six assists.
Alpena's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Gaylord, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alpena will face off against Cedarville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gaylord, they will head out on the road to face off against Elk Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
