Basketball Recap: Burlington Piles Up the Points Against Swink

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Burlington had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 67-19 win over the Swink Lions. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Burlington to victory were Lynzee Neal and Kiyarra Williams. Neal shot 59% from the field on her way to 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Williams posted eight points in addition to 16 boards and seven assists. The last time Neal's field goal percentage was this high was back in February of 2024. Bethany Cure was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Burlington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 20 consecutive contests.

Burlington pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points on average over those games. As for Swink, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Burlington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-27 win against Las Animas on the 8th. Swink does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
