The NSU University Sharks had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They took down Gulliver Prep 67-53. Given NSU University's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Gulliver Prep is ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
NSU University got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dwayne Smith out in front who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Evans Barning, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
NSU University's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Gulliver Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
NSU University will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Coral Springs Charter at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Coral Springs Charter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Gulliver Prep, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Dade Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th.
