Chartiers-Houston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justus Buckingham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Jefferson-Morgan came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Falcons 14-2. Considering the Rockets have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Dayten Marion made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
In other batting news, Jaymison Robinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Ellsworth, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Jefferson-Morgan lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Jefferson-Morgan's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Chartiers-Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both Chartiers-Houston and Jefferson-Morgan just can't seem to miss. The Buccaneers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Jefferson-Morgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
