Rutland is 8-2 against Brattleboro since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Last Thursday, Rutland faced Burr & Burton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rutland came out on top against Burr & Burton by a score of 55-43. 55 seems to be a good number for Rutland as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, even though Bellows Falls scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Brattleboro still came out on top. Brattleboro secured a 61-56 W over Bellows Falls.
Brattleboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johnathon Haskins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Haskins has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Keagan Systo was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Rutland is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Brattleboro, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Rutland against Brattleboro in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 82-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rutland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
