East Carteret came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Croatan Cougars. The Mariners were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
East Carteret was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Croatan work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-11, 25-16.
Skyler Bordeaux paced East Carteret's offense, picking up ten kills. Bordeaux got some help from Kolby Piner and her 24 assists. Piner was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
East Carteret now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Croatan, they moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Carteret will head out to face off against West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Croatan, they will square off against Swansboro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Cougars' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
