B Coffin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was G Ward, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Erskine Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Morse 8-7.
Kelsie Dunn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Dunn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Bryana Barrett was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Stella Martinelli was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Erskine Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Erskine Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lincoln Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lincoln Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Erskine Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lincoln Academy beat Erskine Academy 8-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Does Lincoln Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erskine Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
