Winter Haven Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Champions Christian Academy Lions by a score of 61-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kurtis Colon, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kenyell Benitez, who went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points along with five boards and three steals.

Champions Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Winter Haven Christian will challenge Families Instructing Students HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Champions Christian Academy, they will take on Candlelight Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
